Abstract

1374342 Preparation of carboxylic glycidyl esters DEUTSCHE GOLD -UND SILBER SCHEIDEANSTALT 15 Feb 1972 [15 Feb 1971] 6892/72 Heading C2C Glycidyl esters are prepared by catalytically re-esterifying a carboxylic acid ester with glycidyl acetate or glycidyl propionate. The carboxylic acid ester and the glycidyl acetate or propionate are suitably reacted in a molar ratio of from 1À1 to 3 and the reaction is generally effected at 40-160‹ C. The catalyst employed may be a conventional alkaline, acid or neutral re-esterification catalyst. The carboxylic acid ester starting material preferably has the formula R<SP>1</SP>-COOR<SP>2</SP>, wherein R<SP>1</SP> represents a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic radical of from 3 to 20 carbon atoms, and R<SP>2</SP> represents a C 1-6 alkyl radical.
