Abstract

1373914 Wells &c TAYLOR WOODROW CONSTRUCTION Ltd 29 Dec 1971 [29 Dec 1970] 61686/70 Heading E1F Adjoining faces of lining members in underground cavities have grooves co-operating to form a conduit which is filled with material which sets to form a gasket, the grooves being shaped to retain the gasket. As shown a makeup tubbing segment 16 has a groove 18 cooperating with a groove 6 in a lower segment 1 of a lift, the material filling the grooves and the space enclosed by the faces between an internal lead jointing 4 and a backing plate 14. In the joints in the lift the backing plate is replaced by jointing and the jointings are plastics or lead. Bolts connecting adjoining tubbings may pass through the gasket outside the grooves. The material which may be a mastic, an epoxy resin, a neoprene/epoxy resin, or an epoxy-polysulphide resin may be injected into an annular conduit, formed between adjacent rings of tubbing segments and branch conduits formed by the grooves between the segments of a tubbing ring.
