Abstract

1373679 Twisting bar and rod SIEMAG SIEGENER MASCHINENBAU GmbH 13 April 1972 [17 April 1971] 17007/72 Heading B3E Twisting apparatus for multi-strand merchant bar or wire rod mills comprises two rolls 1, 2, mounted for rotation about parallel axes to define a gap through which a rolled strand 8 can pass, each roll having one end of larger diameter than the other, the small end of one roll being opposite the large end of the other, and the rolls being mounted for relative movement in a plane normal to their axes. As shown, roll 1 is mounted in a housing 4 having a dovetailed base (not shown), for attachemnt to a fixed structure. Roll 2 is mounted in a hood 6 which is pivoted to the housing 4 upstream (or downstream), of the rolls and adjustable vertically relative to the housing downstream (or upstream of the rolls by a screw member. Alternatively, the hood may be vertically slidable in the housing.
