Abstract

1373616 Colour coupler containing photographic silver halide material FUJI PHOTO FILM CO 8 Dec 1971 [8 Dec 1970] 57126/71 Heading G2C A colour photographic silver halide material comprises a support bearing blue-, green-and red-sensitive silver halide emulsion layers containing yellow, magenta and cyan colourless and diffusion resistant couplers respectively, at least one of the emulsion layers containing at least two couplers, each of which forms a dye which is diffusion-resistant, in one of the following combinations: (1) in the case of the blue sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, a first coupler (A) having a high coupling reaction rate and forming yellow with a maximum absorption wavelength of 400 to 500 mÁ and a second coupler (B) having a lower coupling reaction rate than coupler (A) and forming yellow having a maximum absorption wavelength at least 5 mÁ longer than the corresponding wavelength for coupler (B), (2) in the case of the green-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, a first coupler (C) having a high coupling reaction rate and forming magenta with a maximum absorption wavelength of 500-600mÁ and a second coupler (D) having a lower coupling reaction rate than coupler (C) and forming magenta having a maximum absorption wavelength at least 5mÁ longer than the corresponding wavelength for coupler (C), (3) in the case of the red-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer a first coupler (E) having a high coupling reaction rate and forming cyan with a maximum absorption wavelength of 600-730mÁ and a second coupler (F) having a lower coupling reaction rate than coupler (E) and forming cyan having a maximum absorption wavelength at least 5mÁ shorter than the corresponding wavelength for coupler (E); the ratio of the coupling reaction rate of the first coupler in each pair of couplers to that of the second such coupler being at least 1.5 measured by the method described in the Specification. Many examples of the couplers are disclosed. The material is intended for use at a large range of low to high densities of colour image.
