Abstract

1474994 Multi-layer colour photographic silver halide material FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 19 June 1974 27297/74 Heading G2C A photographic material comprises a support bearing at least two photo-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer units, i.e. a silver halide emulsion layer or a group of such layers all having a sensitivity to a specific wavelength region and containing a coupler forming a dye image having a spectral absorption corresponding thereto, which upon colour development give rise to dye images of different colours, at least one of the layer units containing a first coupler forming on development of a first dye, and a second coupler forming on development a second dye of different colour from that of the first dye, the second coupler having a triazole or diazole group having an aromatic ring fused to the 4,5-position thereof, which group is bonded to the coupling position through the N in the 1-position of the triazole or diazole ring and is capable of being split off on coupling. The two emulsion layer units may be green- and red-sensitive respectively. Between the green- and red-sensitive layer units, there may be a panchromatically and spectrally sensitized silver halide emulsion layer containing a cyan-forming or yellow-forming interlayer colour correction, ICC, coupler. In Example 1B the material comprises a red-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing colourless and coloured cyan couplers, a blue-sensitive silverhalide emulsion layer containing a yellow coupler, and a green-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing colourless and coloured magenta couplers and a yellow ICC coupler. In Example 2C the material comprises two red-sensitive silver halide emulsion layers one containing colourless and coloured cyan couplers and the other containing the same cyan couplers and a yellow ICC coupler, two blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion layers each containing the same colourless yellow coupler, and two green-sensitive silver halide emulsion layers one containing a colourless magenta coupler and a yellow ICC coupler and the other containing the same colourless magenta coupler and a coloured magenta coupler. In Example 3D the material comprises two redsensitive silver halide emulsion layers one containing a colourless and coloured cyan coupler and the other containing the same cyan couplers and a yellow ICC coupler, two blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion layers each containing the same colourless yellow coupler and two green-sensitive silver halide emulsion layers one containing a colourless magenta coupler and yellow and cyan ICC couplers and the other containing colourless and coloured magenta couplers and a cyan ICC coupler. The spectral characteristics of the dye image formed in each layer unit are improved using an ICC colourless coupler and correcting the undesired absorptions by increasing the interimage effect.
