Abstract

1373486 Discharging articles from a conveyer belt: packaging P E ELFORD 27 Oct 1971 [28 July 1970] 36555/70 Headings B8A and B8C When articles 44 in lanes on a conveyer belt 10 have, after discharge, filled all the lanes on a downstream platform 22, microswitches X in series are closed, and thereby cause operation of a ram 28 to raise the platform 22 to a position 22<SP>1</SP>. The articles are then pushed to a packaging station 38, by a ram 32, and further oncoming articles on the conveyer 10, are temporarily held from transfer by a depending portion 24 of the platform 22. In a modification (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown), a member (40) having frusto-conical projections (42), which steady and space the leading articles on the conveyer belt 10, is automatically lowered.
