1373353 Trueing grinding wheels V L MIZZI 30 June 1972 [9 June 1971] 19710/71 Heading B3D An appliance for angularly dressing grinding wheels comprises a base 1 with two edges 5 forming sine bars disposed at 90 degrees to one another, and a third edge presenting three bearing edges 7, 8, 9 which enable commonly used angles to be dressed direct from the appropriate edge when abutted against the back rest of a grinding machine, other angles being dressed using engineer's slips against the back rest, a fixed pillar 11 or slide block mounted on the base, and a hand slide 12 mounted on the pillar or slide block for movement parallel to one of the edges 5 and adapted to be fitted with a diamond dressing tool. The base is formed at each of its corners with 90 degree recesses having bearing faces 2 for receiving precision rollers 3 which are secured in the recesses by screws. The pillar 11 is secured in a groove 6 in the base and has guides 11b for reversibly receiving the slide 12, one of the guides 11b engaging a recess 12a in the slide. Brass linings 16 are secured to facings 15 in the slide and slidably engage the upper part 11a of the pillar. A diamond tool can be fitted in either of two holes 13, 14 in the slide, one hole being perpendicular, and the other inclined, to the face of the slide. By resting one or other of the edges 7, 8, 9 against the back rest of the machine, the wheel can be dressed to angles of 30, 45 or 60 degrees while using the edges forming the sine bars 5 and a square or angle plate and slip gauges other angles may be ground. A dust guard 24 is mountable on the pillar.
