Abstract

1372763 Powder and liquid dispensers J C Y BRENEZ 7 April 1972 [15 April 1971 24 March 1972] 16048/72 Heading B2F A spray device for spraying a powder or liquid product comprises telescopic outer and inner plastics tubes, the outer tube 2 having a closed end, and the inner tube having at one end a removable cover 5 provided with a spray aperture 16 and at its other end a oneway valve 9. During an elongation stroke of the telescopic tubes air enters through a clearance between the tubes which is maintained by bosses (14), Fig. 3 (not shown), and the length of the stroke is governed by means of detents 12 on the outer tube which slide in grooves 13 in the inner tube and engage abutments. The one-way valve 9 is connected by means of lugs 11 to a piston 10, and co-operates with a valve seat 8. In the powder-spray device of Fig. 1 powder is stored in the inner tube 1, and the cover 5 has a central portion which normally closes an aperture 4 of a plastics diaphragm 3. During the compression stroke compressed air in the tube 1 deforms the cover 5 to open the aperture 4 and discharge an air-powder mixture via the spray aperture 16. In a liquid-spray device, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), the liquid is contained in a flask (29) located within the inner tube (21) and is in communication with a spray nozzle (46) in a cover (23). Air forced out from the inner tube (21) through the nozzle (46) entrains liquid from the flask.
