Abstract

1372471 Knitting machines; pattern mechanisms MASCHINENFABRIK SPAICHINGEN GmbH 24 April 1972 [10 May 1971] 18810/72 Heading D1C [Also in Divisions G3 and G4] A programme store comprises a plug board having a plurality of sockets wherein at least one magnetic field dependent resistor is associated with each socket and the magnetic field influencing each resistor is charged by a plug inserted in the respective socket. The resistor is connected in a switching circuit and the charge in resistance causes the conductivity state of a respective transistor to change. Preferably each socket has two resistors 10a, 10b associated with it to give four separate combinations of signals on the output terminals 19a, 19b. In the construction shown in Figure 4 the resistors are in the air gap of a magnetic circuit comprising magnet 26 and yokes 27, 28. The plug has magnetic shunts 31 which when inserted divert the flux around the air gap. The plugs 301 may carry one or two shunts or can be omitted altogether to give the different codings and are shaped to only fit in one way. The conductors 13, 14, 15 are printed on insulating plate 20 and the resistors after insertion are secured by dip soldering. The store is interrogated by cyclically earthing the row conductors 13. The store is stated to be used for a pattern attachment of a multi-system circular knitting machine where the plugs represent the stitches of a pattern repeat and the rows and columns correspond to the stitch courses and wales respectively.
