Abstract

1371930 Card storage system RICOH KK 23 Dec 1971 [30 Dec 1970 27 Feb 1971 (2) 6 Oct 1971] 60124/71 Heading G4M [Also in Division B6] A card storage system has a holder with spaced plates each having indentations along an edge and a card and card holder, the latter having portions received by the indentations and held in position by a magnetic force. The holder may be a box (Fig. 7, not shown), a helical arrangement (Fig. 5, not shown) or a cylinder, Fig. 1, having two toothed discs 2, 3, and a permanent magnet 5 mounted on a central cylinder 1. The card holders contain magnetically attracted inserts 7A, 7B and the holder is rotatable to move the cards past a reader to a card removal device (Fig. 3, not shown). The card holders 7 (Fig. 18) contain a longitudinal slot 25 receiving the card and have bores receiving iron pins 23 which engage a recess in each side of the card to retain the card. A strip carrying code symbols 8 and cut from the card may be secured to the holder 7 by adhesive or by insertion into guide grooves. The strip may be read optically. The magnet may be cut away opposite the card removal position to reduce the removing force. The card may carry data in magnetic form or optical form visible as markings or punched holes on cards or as photographic films.
