Abstract

1371251 Touch-responsive system NOVELTY PATENT Ltd 26 March 1973 [14 June 1972] 27848/72 Heading G1N [Also in Divisions E2 and G4] A touch-responsive system in a lock comprises a touch plate 7, which is a metallic key-hole plate 2 surrounding the key-hole 3, and an amplifier connected to a switching device adapted to change state when the plate is touched. The amplifier includes transistors 8, 9, 10 in cascade and the switching device is a driver transistor 11 connected to a bell or alarm circuit 6 and to a light source 12 which illuminates the lock through a transparent plastics plate 4 when the plate 7 is touched. It is stated that instead of responding to changes in electrical capacitance the touch plate could be arranged to respond to a difference in temperature between ambient temperature and that of a member temporarily in contact with it.
