Abstract
1370649 Pendulum switches S C CURRAN 6 Oct 1972 [14 Oct 1971] 47756/71 Heading H1N A pendulum switch includes a main pendulum 1 on the lower end of which a switch contact controlling pendulum 4 is pivoted to oscillate in a parallel plane or the same plane as the main pendulum 1. As shown in Fig. 5 the free end 4a of pendulum 4 may be the movable contact which co-operates with fixed contacts 6 connected to batteries 14 to energize a coil 11 on the main pendulum 1 in juxtaposition to a permanent magnet 12. The coil is alternately energized to maintain oscillation of the main pendulum 1 which may drive clockwork through a pawl 15 and ratchet wheel 16. Alternatively (Fig. 3) the pendulum 4 may be within a sealed vessel and co-operate with fixed contacts 6a therein. In a further arrangement (not shown) the pendulum 4 may carry a magnet controlling a reed contact unit. (For Figures see next page.)
