Abstract

1370530 Testing crush barriers K H TOFT 11 July 1973 [16 Aug 1972] 38250/72 Heading G1S A crush barrier 4, Fig.1, has a plurality of hydraulically expandable struts 5 placed against it and say a step riser 6. The struts are connected to distribution manifolds 7, 8 and a pump 9, Fig.2, and each may be adjusted for length initially by inserting a pin throught a hole in member 17 and adjustably screwing a collar 19 to bear against the pin. The head of each strut is pivotally connected to its member 17 and is of U shape lined with rubber. Adjustable scale rules are clamped to the barrier and their deflection viewed through a theodolite.
