Abstract

1370126 Boring earth; wells G E DOWNS 8 Nov 1971 [27 May 1971] 17676/71 Heading E1F A method of drilling and completing an underwater well comprises securing an apertured member 10b above the sea bed, passing a conductor casing 13 through the aperture, drilling the well through the conductor casing, installing well casing 22, attaching a well head 23 to the well casing, attaching a member 10a with an access shaft 11 to the member 10b, and; pumping water from the chamber formed by the members. The member has a hatch 26 permitting access for a drill string to rework the well. The wellheads are joined to a' manifold connected to a pipe line running along the sea bed. An above water deck may be mounted above the access shaft which may have a buoyancy tank 25. (For Figure see next column)
