Abstract
1315561 Sub-aqueous wellheads ACF INDUSTRIES Inc 10 June 1970 [25 June 1969] 28022/70 Heading E1F A housing 10 for a sub-aqueous wellhead is positioned, at least substantially, beneath the ocean floor. The housing and a conductor guide casing 16 are washed in the ocean floor by means of fluid pumped through aperture 18 in the bottom of the casing. Blades 20, 21 are positioned on the underneath of the house to agitate the stratum. The housing may also be rotated. A tubular extension may be mounted on top of the housing during the drilling of the well through casing 16. The wellhead and sleeve 60 through the wall of which production tubing 58 extends are lowered down cables 32 to posts 30 secured to the housing. Cover 64 for the housing contains a stabbing sleeve 67 in which a stabbing pin (73 Figures 7 and 8) connected to a drill pipe can be inserted for the introduction to or removal from the housing of corrosion and marine inhibitors. On removal of the pin and drill pipe a closure element having a pair of spring biassed check valves is inserted into sleeve 67, the valves permitting entry and exit of fluid from the housing to maintain the pressure within the housing at ambient pressure. A repair manipulator can be inserted into the housing on removal of the cover 64 and includes a support column having a wheel to rotate on the rim of sleeve 60 and wheels to engage the inside wall of the housing. A remote control work platform is mounted so as to be movable vertically along, and horizontally pivoted relative to, the support column, and carries a power operated wrench to unscrew a valve operator, and a replacement valve operator.
