Abstract

1369904 Feeding and delivering sheets AGFAGEVAERT AG 22 Sept 1971 [22 Sept 1970] 44296/71 Heading B8R [Also in Division G2] Copy sheets 10 after receiving developed electrostatic latent images from a drum 1 are fed out of the copier past a misfeed detector 23 and fixing unit 15; the detector being periodically rendered operable at times when no sheet should be detected thereby and being arranged to give a shut-down signal if a sheet is detected. As shown, the detector comprises a photo-cell 23 rendered operable each time an original support carriage 7 trips a switch 41. If a sheet is detected the fixing unit, main drive motor and exposure lamp are switched off, but a cooling fan stays on. Preferably photo-cell 23 is also rendered operable by a switch 40 at times when paper should be present. If no paper is detected the copy cycle is completed and the machine switched off. Thus a required number of copies can be made merely by placing that number of copy sheets 10 in the supply tray. Original carriage 7 and a copy sheet stripper 9 are attached to cords 8, 9a which are magnetically coupled to the drum 1 to move the carriage and stripper forwards; the couplings then being released so that springs 21 and 9b can return the carriage and stripper.
