The lining may be applied by dip-coating the entire connector in p.v.c. or, alternatively, by bonding a layer 18 of rubber to the part 2 and a patterned layer 20 to the part 4. A raised grid-iron pattern may be formed on the rubber layer on coated p.v.c. Additionally, for a main pipe of non-plasticized p.v.c., the contacting faces may be bonded together by means of a p.v.c. solvent or a solvent cement.
