1368750 Service pipe-lines for automatic central buffer couplings GERMANY MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT 14 Jan 1972 [29 Dec 1970] 61432/71 Heading B7T The valves of service pipe-line couplings of automatic central buffer couplings are actuated by a shaft 16 connected via eccentric 15 and link 14 to a piston 12 held against a spring 13 by a cam 22 ready for a coupling operation. A link 21 pulled by the mating of two buffer couplings pivots a lever 26 to withdraw the cam thus releasing the piston to open the valves. A spring urged lever 24 then moves to engage its projection 32 with a notch 36 in the cam to prevent its re-engagement with the piston on a coupling occurring at high impact. Continued movement of link 21 and lever 26 releases the cam nose 33. On return movement of the lever, a spring-urged plunger 34 can retract to enable the lever to re-engage the can. Shaft 16 can be turned manually, due to the provision of spring plunger 18, to actuate the valves and also to reset the piston in its spring-loaded condition.
