Abstract

1368406 Boxes; packages A B ARTUSI 26 Feb 1973 [29 Feb 1972 28 July 1972] 9290/73 Headings B8P and B8C A postal box, enclosing blood sample tubes 36 packed in a foam plastics holder 30, is erected from a blank comprising a bottom panel 3, side panels 8 and 9, top panels 5 and 6, rear panel 15, cover panel 13 a front panel 19 and a closure panel 20, by folding the cover panel over previously folded side and top panels, locating cover panel tabs 17 in slots 11 formed in the blank between adjoining side and top panels, and securing the closure panel 20 to a projecting end portion of the bottom panel, the latter being longer than the cover and side panels. The tabs 17 are wider than the height of the side panels to establish a clearance a between the cover and top panels for the reception of an address card below windows 22 and 23. The holder is provided with recesses 32 in which the tubes are located and with openings 34 in which the tubes may be stood to facilitate filling. In a modification, Figs. 6-8 (not shown), the holder 67 has an H-shaped recess 69, 74 provided with base apertures 76, which permit the outflow of any blood &c., leaking from the tubes, and the corrugated board of the blank is provided with an internal absorbent layer 64 to soak the outflow. The internal layer is attached by adhesive applied at discrete points in the form of a lattice.
