Abstract

1367736 Lighting fittings; central heating M FORDSMAND 3 April 1973 [24 May 1972] 24357/72 Headings F4R and F4U A lighting fitting comprises an elongate housing containing means for mounting one or more fluorescent tubes 14 and means for cooling the tubes, the cooling means comprising, for each tube, a fluid-conducting duct 13 having a concave part-cylindrical wall 13b adapted to contact the part of the tube which is nearest to the base 11 of the housing, the region of contact extending over substantially the full length of the tube. The tubes are mounted between pairs of sockets 15 carried by respective hinges 16, 17 biased by springs 18 or 18<SP>1</SP> which urge the tubes into contact with the ducts. The ducts are interconnected at each end by pipes 21 provided with nipples (22) by means of which the fluid conduct ing structure of the fitting may be connected to a water circuit in series with other similar fittings, a heat pump and a heat exchanger. The open front 10a of the housing may be covered by a translucent acrylic resin plate 11a. In a modification (Fig. 5, not shown) the housing and ducts are of trapezoidal cross-section and a pair of concave reflector screens (20) is mounted between the ducts and the sides of the open front (10a) of the housing.
