Abstract

1367286 Valves DRAEGER NORMALAIR Ltd 1 Nov 1971 [23 Nov 1970] 55600/70 Heading F2V [Also in Division A5] A valve arrangement for permitting flow of breathable gas to a user through an opening 17 to an oronasal mask, comprises a tiltable inlet valve 20 which when the user inhales is tilted to an open position by the consequent movement of a diaphragm 14. A pressure-actuated by-pass valve 24 opens in the event of the pressure upstream of valve 20 reaching such a value, due, e.g. to malfunction of an upstream pressure reducer, that the valve 20 is held against its seat 21 in spite of inhalation by the user. Under these conditions the flow to the user is controlled to an acceptable value by an orifice 29 in the by-pass ducting 28, 30.
