Abstract

1366918 Jacks for aircraft Y DUCUING 20 Sept 1971 43745/71 Heading B8T [Also in Division F1] A lifting slide 2 on a column 1, shown inclined, includes a load hook 3 to engage an aircraft undercarriage. The slide 2 is raised by a central screw (52), Fig. 2 (not shown), threaded in a nut (51) attached to the slide 2 by arms 5 engaging in two diametrically opposed grooves (53) in the column 1. The screw (52) is rotated through planet-wheel gearing (not shown) by a spanner 6 fitted with a handle 7 with a reversing ratchet. This manual drive may be replaced by various motors (not shown). The column 1 is mounted on a carriage 8 with a set of four wheels 11 and a pair of wheels 12. A strut 9 supports the column 1 at an angle of about 10 degrees to the vertical. The wheels 11, 12 run in a U- shaped cross-section rail 13 which distributes the load over the ground and allows the device to follow movements of the aircraft. An adjustable brake (55), Fig. 3 (not shown), is fitted to prevent unintentional lowering of the load, the screw (52) being mounted on a roller bearing. Figure 4 (not shown), illustrates an alternative embodiment wherein the aircraft is lifted by a spherical seating (111) engaging a supporting ball (112) on the aircraft. The seating (11) is carried by a pair of arms (109) mounted on rollers (119), (119<SP>1</SP>) running on opposite sides of a column (101) and connected through balance beam (113) and rod (114). The arms (109) are lifted by an hydraulic ram (120), (121).
