Abstract

1366871 Gas and liquid fuel burners DUNLOP HOLDINGS Ltd 22 Sept 1971 [2 Oct 1970] 46861/70 Addition to 1325444 Heading F4T [Also in Division F1] A fluid distributer is of the type disclosed in Specification 1,325,444 and comprises spaced superimposed sheet members 11, 12, Fig. 1, defining a gallery 15 therebetween to which a first fluid is supplied under pressure and passes into passages passing through the gallery to entrain fluid which is around the structure to flow from one side of the structure to the other, the passages being defined by interfitting circular tubular projections 17, 18 on members 11, 12, the radially inner surface of the larger-diameter projections 18 having grooves 19 permitting fluid flow from said gallery 15 into said passages. A burner has a first such structure 24 forming a burner element supplied with pressurized liquid or gas at 25 to entrain gas or liquid flow through its passages, in particular fuel gas entrains air, and a second such structure 10 is supplied with pressurized air at 27. A support 20 maintains burner element 24 spaced above air distributer 10 and the pressurized air entrains further air to flow from openings 23 through the air distributer 10 and into and through the passages through the fuel gallery 26 of the burner element 24. Electromagnetic valves 28, 29, Fig. 2, control fuel gas and air flow, respectively, and are controlled by a bimetal sensor 32 sensing a pilot burner 31 flame which is supplied via normal valve 30. A mixture regulator 36 may be arranged to ensure that the difference between the fuel gas pressure and the air pressure is substantially independent of the pressure of air supplied to distributer 10 and determined by adjustable reducing valve 33. The regulator comprises a diaphragm 37 acted on by the air pressure in opposition to a spring to responsively control the gas flow by means of a plunger 41 engaging the stem 43 of a tilt valve 44 for the gas flow.
