Abstract

1537239 Pressure regulators BRITISH GAS CORP 12 March 1976 10415/75 Heading G3P [Also in Divisions F2 and F4] Apparatus for controlling the flow ratio of gas and air supplies to an appliance comprises a chamber 3, in which flow between an inlet 8 and an outlet is controlled by a valve member (6), Fig. 1 (not shown), separated by a diaphragm 4 from a chamber 2 which is divided by diaphragms 13, 14, into three compartments 9, 10, 11 provided with respective orifices 16, 17, 15 for connection to fluid pressure sensing lines each of the three diaphragms being rigidly connected to the valve member (6). The weight of the diaphragm/valve member assembly is counterbalanced by an adjustable spring 19. The orifice 15 connects the compartment 11 with the outlet side of the chamber 3, from which gas at pressure Pg is supplied to burners 27 in a combustion chamber 22. The orifice 16 is connected to air supply line 24 at pressure Pa, and the orifice 17 to the combustion chamber at pressure Pc. Thus as the air supply is varied, by valve 25 the air/gas ratio is kept constant. So that the apparatus may function if the gas pressure exceeds the available air pressure, the diaphragm 13 is of greater area than the diaphragm 14.
