Abstract

1,167,700. Valves. HARPER-WYMAN CO. 29 Feb., 1968 [6 March, 1967], No. 9903/68. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F4] In a control system for a two-burner gas oven in which only one burner can be used at once a valve assembly 22 includes a valve 52 which allows gas to flow to a burner 14 only when a flame sensing bulb 30 is heated by a control pilot 24, and a valve 56 which supplies gas to a burner 16 only when a sensing bulb 46 is heated by a control pilot 40, and in addition a valve 60 prevents gas from flowing to burner 16 when a flame exists at pilot 24 the desired pilot being supplied with gas via a control valve assembly 20 which has a recessed rotor 70 rotation of which adjusts a thermostatic control for the oven temperature in addition to selecting the burner to be used. The valve assembly 22 has a body 102 enclosed by cover plates 104, 106 and divided by a wall 114 through which there is continuous communication via a passageway 116 beneath the cover plate 104. The regions beneath the cover plates 104, 106 are connected by internally threaded bores 118, 120 and a pair of threaded valve seat members 122, 124 received in bore 118 form one outlet chamber 126, an inlet chamber 128 and a lower region communicating with passageway 116. A threaded valve seat member 132 in the bore 120 divides the bore into a second outlet chamber 134 and a lower region connecting with passageway 116. Valve members 136, 156 are moved by levers 148, 166 operated by expandable diaphragms 146, 171 responsive to flame sensing bulbs 30, 46. In order to move knob 34 of valve assembly 20 from or through the " off " position the knob must be depressed to release a locking member 182b from a recess 174a in the face plate.
