Abstract
1366615 Hollow fibre membranes DOW CHEMICAL CO 21 Feb 1972 [25 Feb 1971] 7930/72 Heading B1X A process for the manufacture of a permselective membrane assembly from one or more continuously hollow permselective fibres comprises winding at least one hollow fibre about a pair of substantially parallel spaced apart support members thereby to form a moving belt, winding the belt about a core member to form a convolute bundle, applying a band of solidifiable resin to one or more transverese sections of the bundle, solidifying the band(s) of resin and cutting at least one of the resin band(s) thereby to form a tube sheet face portion having open fibre ends terminating therein. As shown, two guide threads (or wires or tapes) 13 are provided and are wound on to spool 14. A plurality of hollow fibres 17 from packages 15 or rotary frame 10 is wound around the guide threads. A band of resin 21 is applied adjacent to the take-up spool.
