1366566 Ejectors FRANCE ARMED FORCES-MINISTER OF 21 Sept 1972 [18 Oct 1971] 43700/72 Heading F3C An ejector for jettisoning a load suspended beneath the fuselage of an aircraft has a pair of thrust members for engaging the load at two longitudinally-spaced points along its upper surface, the thrust members being movable, by a piston and cylinder unit, between an upper retracted position and a lower operative position a linkage being provided to constrain the thrust members to move by different amounts so that the load can be positioned at a desired angle to the fuselage prior to being jettisoned. In an embodiment an ejector 1, Fig. 1, has hooks 5, 6 which engage rings 2, 3 respectively, the latter being secured to a part 4 of the load. The hooks 5, 6 are pivoted on pins 7, 8 respectively, have a cam extension 9 or 10, and are interconnected by a rod 11 and pivot pins 12, 13. Pivotal movement is prevented by a catch 14. A cylinder 15 is pivoted to a fixed pin 16 and contains a piston 17 which is pivotally connected to the hook 5 by a pin 18. Pressurized gas is supplied to the cylinder 15 by pyrotechnical pulse generators 19 which also serve to release the catch 14. When an electric signal is received by the generators 19 the catch 14 is released and the hooks 5, 6 are rotated in the direction shown by the arrows. The hooks are released from the rings 2, 3 and the cam extensions 9, 10 thrust against the part 4 of the load to move it to the position shown in dash and dot lines in Fig. 1. In another embodiment thrust pistons 23, 24, Fig. 2, are mounted in slideways 21, 22 and are connected to a "floating" cylinder 34 and its piston 36 by links 25, 26 and levers 27, 28. In another embodiment an ejector as balls and socket fastenings which replace the hooks and rings method of connecting the load to the ejector, and is provided with springs which return the ejector pistons after the load has been released.
