Abstract

1366489 Non-flammable fleece; non-woven fabric BAYER AG 20 Dec 1971 [22 Dec 1970] 59107/71 Headings DIP and D1R [Also in Division C3] Non-flammable rubberised fleeces are formed by treating laid-out non-woven fibres with polychloroprene latices containing as fire-retardant a mixture of (1) 15-5 parts of a chloroparaffin containing at least 60 wt% chlorine and (2) 5-15 parts of zinc borate or an alkaline earth metal borate, each per 100 parts of polychloroprene, followed by drying and vulcanizing. The fibres may be animal, vegetable or synthetic, and in Examples are (4-6) a blend of coconut shell fibre, pig's bristles and horsehair, and (9) polyacrylonitrile or polycaprolactam fibres. Polyester and polycarbonate fibres are also specified.
