Abstract

1366477 Carbon papers B C REID 12 Jan 1972 [14 Oct 1970] 48718/70 Heading D2B A carbon paper comprises a foundation coated with a carbon layer in the form of a resinous sponge in the pores of which is distributed an ink, the ink comprising colouring matter and as a vehicle therefor an alkylene oxide-based polymeric material. The latter may be a polyethylene glycol of M.W. 600-700, a polypropylene glycol, an ethylene oxidepropylene oxide random or block copolymer, or adducts thereof e.g. a polyoxyethylene alkyl phenol, a polyoxyethylene alcohol, or a polyoxyethylene ester of a fatty acid. The foundation may be paper or a plastics film. A thin resinous supercoat may be applied on top of the carbon layer.
