Abstract
136,639. Lark, H., and Nevell, W. H. Dec. 18, 1918. Body attachments, buoyant; buoyant fittings &c.-Buoyant cushions for the seats of aircraft, ships. &c. are adapted to be used as life-belts or jackets, by connecting two cushions, such as the seat and back cushions, by an arrangement of straps or harness adapted to secure them on the person. As shown in Fig. 1, the seat and back cushions a, b adapted for the tub seat of an aircraft, are connected by straps c, d so that by passing the head between the straps c and the arms within the straps d, the cushions take the position shown in Fig. 5. Diagonal staying- straps e are preferably provided to connect the straps c to the cushion a. The cushions are adapted to be connected to the seats on which they are used by detachable fastenings, such as press-button members h, i on tabs f, g; and the cushion a is preferably formed with one or more pockets adapted to contain flares, concentrated food, &c. Fig. 8 shows the seat and back cushions a<1>, b<1> of a ship's seat connected by straps c', d<1> with stay-straps e<1>, and Fig. 11 shows two seat cushions a<2>, b<2> connected by straps c<2>, d<2> with stay-straps e<2>.
