Abstract
1366380 Removal of chloride from zinc waste DET NORSKE ZINKKOMPANI AS 22 Oct 1971 49285/71 Heading C1A Chloride is removed from zinc waste to make it suitable for use as a raw material in the production of zinc from a sulphate solution, by dissolving the zinc waste in sulphuric acid, and removing chloride ions from the solution by liquid/liquid extraction with an aromatic solvent, e.g. hydrocarbon or mixture of hydrocarbons, containing in solution a tertiary amine, e.g. tri-isooctylamine, which forms a chloride complex soluble in the organic phase. The organic phase may thereafter be freed from chloride and returned to the process.
