Abstract

1433406 Extraction of zinc ions HOECHST AG 29 June 1973 [1 July 1972 30 March 1973 31041/73 Heading C1A The separation of zinc from an aqueous solution containing zinc and chloride ions, and preferably cadmium ions, which comprises extracting the said solution with an extracting agent comprising a compound of the formula wherein R 1 and R 2 , which may be the same or different, each represents an unsubstituted or substituted aryl group, or an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl group having from 1 to 18 carbon atoms, and R 3 represents an unsubstituted or substituted aryl group, or alkyl or alkoxy group having from 1 to 18 carbon atoms, with the limitation that the total number of carbon atoms in the three groups R 1 , R 2 and R 3 is not less than 9 or a mixture of two or more of such compounds or a mixture of one or more of such compounds with a water immiscible organic solvent, e.g. kerosene. The organic phase may be stripped with H 2 O, H 2 SO 4 , HNO 3 , alkali metal sulphate or nitrate.
