Abstract

1365737 Vehicle tipping R HUCHET 15 Sept 1971 [4 Nov 1970 15 March 1971] 43086/71 Heading B7B A transport vehicle comprises a chassis and at least one body mounted on a support which permits the body to tip sideways in relation to the chassis by the action of at least one jack which is mounted on the chassis and articulated on the support so as to pivot and accompany the pivoting movement of the support, one part of the body being capable of sliding transversely relative to the support. In a preferred embodiment the body K is fixed on an auxiliary chassis P from which extends arms 15 which pivot an axis A situated in a beam 16 forming part of the main chassis C. The tipping of the body is obtained by hydraulic jacks W the cylinder 18 of which pivots on the beam 16 around axis R while the piston 19 is articulated to the arm 15. Props Z are distributed along the length of the vehicle and are articulated around a fixed pivot F integral with the chassis via a supporting bracket 21. Pivoting of the props is carried out by jacks N, the cylinder 22 of which is pivotally mounted on the main chassis C. The side wall 2 of the body K may be divided into two parts which hinge about a fixed vertical post to fold towards the interior of the body which may contain a fixed internal partition Fig. 3 (not shown). The rear compartment of the body has box Fig. 4 (not shown) which is moved within the body K by, for example, a manually controlled rack and pinion arrangement, thus acquiring a balanced load position on the vehicle. The body K may be adapted to slide and be secured in differnt positions on the auxiliary chassis P to allow adjustment of the height of the body after tipping. In another embodiment, Figs. 12, 14, the vehicle comprises two bodies 101, 101<SP>1</SP> mounted to move an auxiliary chassis 102, 102<SP>1</SP> which in turn are mounted to pivot on the main chassis 103. The auxiliary chassis tip sideways about mounting devices comprising plates 104 and spindles 105 on one side of the vehicle and the tipping movement is carried out by jacks 106 pivotally mounted to the auxiliary and main chassis on the other side of the vehicle. Jacks 110 provide for sliding movement of the bodies 101, 101<SP>1</SP>, on the auxiliary chassis 102, 102<SP>1</SP>. In a variant of the above, Fig. 17 a vehicle comprises a body tipping on the longitudinal side as in the previous vehicle and another body which tips over the rear of the vehicle. The body 129 has an opening lateral side 129a and at least one prop is mounted on the tipping side and the cylinder of which is fixed rigidly to the chassis. The vehicle is particularly suitable for the transporting of gas cylinders. (For Figures see next page.)
