Abstract

1365297 Tubular heat exchangers JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 28 Oct 1971 [31 Oct 1970] 51894/70 Heading F4S Apparatus for heat exchange between three fluids (e.g. transmission oil, engine oil, and liquid fuel) comprises a housing 10 subdivided internally into a plurality of compartments, two of said fluids (e.g. the oils) flowing respectively one through each of two compartments 13, 14 in heat exchange therein with tube groups 22, 23 conveying the third fluid. This fluid flows through the tube groups in series via an inlet compartment 17, a transfer compartment 18 and an outlet compartment 19 for said fluid. The respective fluids flowing over the tubes in compartments 13, 14 are directed transversely and in a sinous flow path across the tubes by baffles (24, 27, Fig. 2).
