Abstract
1365222 Method of testing a video amplifier ROBERT BOSCH FERNSEHANLAGEN GmbH 19 May 1972 [21 May 1971] 23707/72 Heading G1U A method of testing a video amplifier including automatic gain control stages, is characterized in that before a test signal is applied to the amplifier, and for the duration of the test signal, the automatic gain control stages are rendered inoperative and the gain of the amplifier is set at a known level, such as unity. In the preferred embodiment a conventional video amplifier Fig. 1, comprising stages 1, 11 to 14 and a positive/ negative switch 2, the stages 11 to 14 compensating respectively for stray light, black value, gamma and colour match, is provided with switches 18a to 18f between automatic gain control signals shown originating from potentiometers 80 to 85, which switches, when activatedby signals N1 and N2, over-ride the automatic gain control signals and set the stages at unity gain. A test signal can then be passed through the amplifier and examined for distortion. As shown the signals N1 and N2 can be applied either singly or together in order to effect tests under different conditions. Suitable switching circuits 18a to 18f and amplifier stages are described Figs. 2 to 5 (not shown).
