Abstract
1365167 Electrolytic cells PROGIL 30 Dec 1971 [2 Feb 1971] 60747/71 Heading C7B An electrolysis cell includes a cathode assembly 9 which provides the walls of the cell; an anode assembly comprising a horizontal support plate 2, e.g. of Cu, forming the base of the cell, to which the anodes 5 are connected and which is covered by thin foil 3 of corrosion resistant metal, e. g. of Ti; and a gasket formed by a rigid part 7 with resilient ring parts 8 (e. g. a polyester laminate 7 with rubber ring parts 8), said gasket defining the periphery of the cell base and providing a hydraulic seal and electrical insulation between the cathode assembly and the support plate. As shown the support plate 2 is supported on a structure of metal or polyester laminate girders 1; and the anode and cathode structures are clamped together by means of flanges 10 and bolts 11.
