Abstract

1462460 Anode seals in electrolytic cells FRIEDRICH UHDE GmbH 7 Aug 1974 [9 Aug 1973] 34872/74 Heading C7B [Also in Division F2] A flexible diaphragm seal 8 enables the anode 3 of an electrolytic cell to be moved, while the interior of the cell remains sealed from atmosphere. The seal has a frusto-conical annular plug 7, which may either be of harder material than the diaphragm 8 or may have an expansion ring 10. The cell is a mercury electrolysis cell with a non-moving cover and a graphite or like anode 3.
