Abstract

1364867 Electric couplings THOMSON-CSF 13 Sept 1971 [22 Sept 1970] 42600/71 Heading H2E For making electrical connection between members A and B while permitting limited relative rotational movement between them, leaf spring R is located between adjacent parallel walls of A and B and its ends are electrically connected to terminals a and b on A and B respectively, such that in the course of the relative movement spring R rolls on the walls without slip and with substantially constant curvature, the mechanical characteristics of the spring being such that during movement the elastic limit is not reached. As shown in Fig. 2, terminals a, b coincide with the points of attachment; alternatively as in Fig. 5, springs R2' R7 are soldered to studs c2, d2 and c7, d7 which are soldered to terminals a2, b2 and a7, b7 respectively, mounted on the outside surfaces of members A and B and possibly electrically connected to printed circuitry thereon. Members A, B may be insulating or conducting, and if conducting, the springs, which may be beryllium bronze, are coated with insulating material apart from their points of contact. Twelve pairs of springs may be circumferentially arranged around members A, B, alternate springs being axially offset to provide two axially offset groups (Fig. 3, not shown) having springs of different sizes (Fig. 5).
