Abstract
1,106,968. Artificial limbs. HUGH STEEP-ER Ltd. 14 Sept., 1966 [5 July, 1965], No. 28338/65. Heading A5R. [Also in Division H2] The releasable spigot and socket connection between an artificial arm 1 and an artificial hand or hook 6 is arranged so that, when the spigot 8 is pushed into the socket 3, an electrical circuit between a power supply in the arm and a power means in the hand &c. is completed. The spigot comprises an insulating sleeve 11 separating inner and outer conductive sleeves 9, 8, the sleeve 8 being connected to a plate 7 and terminal 25 in the hand &c. and being arranged to contact an apertured block 4, having an electrical lead 28, when the spigot and socket connection is made. The inner sleeve 9 has a terminal 15 with an electrical lead 30 and is arranged to contact a socket 5 having an electric lead 27. the socket 5 being secured to an insulating ring 20, which is supported on screws 22 so that it may move against springs 24. A catch 13 secures the spigot and socket connection.
