Abstract
1364772 Explosive compositions DYNO INDUSTRIER AS 8 March 1972 [10 March 1971] 10775/72 Heading C1D A water-bearing explosive composition is prepared by mixing a thickened solution or dispersion of the oxidizing component with a viscous or thickened solution or dispersion of the fuel, the two solutions or dispersions having approximately the same consistency. Mixing may be carried out using gear pumps of controlled relative speed to pump one liquid through a large number of openings into a stream of the other liquid. In examples, dispersions containing ammonium nitrate, calcium nitrate, sodium nitrate, urea, water, ethylene glycol, tapioca starch, and guar gum are mixed with dispersions containing ethylene glycol, flake aluminium, powdered asphalt, and a thickening agent (evaporated sulphite liquor or polyacrylate). Sodium dichromate solution containing disodium hydrogen phosphate may be added during mixing to assist gelling. Other ingredients referred to are molasses, TNT, coal, pitch, peat, cork, wood, bark, Mg, Si, B, and xanthan gum. Agents may be added to stabilize dispersed air in the final composition.
