Abstract

1364227 Wrapping annular objects MASCHINENFABRIK FLUMS AG 21 Feb 1973 [21 Feb 1972] 8548/73 Heading B8C A circular cut-out and concentric weld are formed in a pair of wrapping films V 1 , V 2 centrally of an annular ring R at a station S 2 whilst the ring R is supported on or above at least one pair of parallel conveyer belts (F 1 , F 2 , K 1 , K 2 ). As shown, the leading and trailing edges of each wrapper are welded and cut at a station S 1 , the ring R, supported on a forked feeder G, is pushed into the film loop and to the welding station S 2 by a slide unit HS. After welding by means of a bottom ram 1 and heated top ram 2, the feeder G is lowered and retracted and the conveyers (F 1 , F 2 , K 1 , K 2 ) are started to convey the ring to side-welding stations S 3 , S 4 . The fully wrapped ring then passes into a heat-shrink tunnel. In a modification, the ring is completely wrapped before the central seaming and cutting operation is performed whilst ring is supported by the conveyer.
