Abstract

1364133 Explosive compositions DYNAMIT NOBEL AG 30 May 1972 [29 May 1971] 25343/72 Heading C1D A slurry or gel explosive composition, free from water-insoluble brisant explosive, comprises ammonium nitrate, a metallic fuel, and a mixture comprising an oxygen-yielding salt and a combustible compound, which mixture has a melting point of not more than 10‹ C. Ammonium, alkali metal, or alkaline earth metal nitrate or perchlorate may be used as the oxygen-yielding salt. Metal fuels may be Al, Mg, Al alloys, Mg alloys, Si, ferrosilicon, or ferrophosphorus. Combustible compounds referred, to are nitrates and perchlorates of hydrazine, urea, guanidine, methylamine, ethylamine, aniline, phenylene diamine, hexamethylene tetramine, ethylene diamine, hexamethylene diamine and tetraethylene pentamine; other combustible compounds are urea, urethanes, ammonium formate, acetate, and sulphamate, formamide, acetamide, ureides, carbamic acid, ammonium thiocyanate, hypophosphite, and thiosulphate, sodium acetate, monosaccharides and oligosaccharides. In order to lower the melting point of the mixture to below -10‹ C., nitrates or perchlorates of an alkanolamine may be used as described in Specification 1,364,132. Swelling agents, additional combustible substances, surface active agents, an antibacterial agent, and other optional ingredients may be added as described in Specifications 1,364,131 and 1,364,132. Water may be added, preferably not more than 5% by weight. Oxygen-containing gas may be introduced as described in the Specifications referred to above.
