Abstract
1364132 Explosive compositions DYNAMIT NOBEL AG 30 May 1972 [29, May 1971] 25342/72 Heading C1D. A rapidly combustible mixture having a solidification point of not more than -10‹ C. comprises an oxygen-yielding salt and a combustible compound and contains at least 30% byweight of a nitrate or perchlorate of an alkanolamine. Alkanolamines specified are ethanolamine, 2-aminobutanol, 2-aminoisobutanol, diethanolamine, and triethanolamine. The oxygen-yielding salt may be ammonium, alkali metal, or alkaline earth metal nitrate or perchlorate, preferably ammonium or sodium nitrate. Other ingredients may be hydrazine, urea, urethanes, guanidine, quaternary. ammonium compounds, nitrates and perchlorates of methylamine, ethylamine, aniline, phenylene diamine, hexamethylene tetramine, ethylene diamine, hexamethylene diamine, and tetraethylene pentamine, ammonium formate, acetate or sulphamate, formamide, acetamide, ammonium thiocyanate, hypophosphite, or thiosulphate, sodium acetate, monosaccharides; oligesaccharities, glycerine, ethylene glycol, and diethylene glycol. Thickening agents may be added, for example guar flour, carob bean flour, agar-agar; starch, celluloseesters, ethers or glycolates, albumins, gelatines; gum arabic; tragacanth, alginates, polyacrylamides, polyacrylic acids, polyvinyl alcohol, polyoxymethylene, bentonites, silica, orsilicates. Salicylic acid may be included as an antibacterial agent. Up to 40% by-weight of water may be present. High energy explosives contain the mixture together with PETN, tetryl, RDX, Al, Mg, Si, ferrosilicon, ferrophosphorus, oxygen-yielding salts in the form of prills or fine or coarse crystals, coal dust, sawdust, fats, paraffin wax, resins; asphalt, vegetable oil, liquid hydrocarbons, and surface active agents such as higher fatty. acids and their salts, fatty amines and sulphonates. Oxygen-containing gas may be included in the explosive composition by adding granulatedporous materials or hollow glass or phenolformaldehyde resin microspheres, by the injection of air, or by reaction between acetic acid and sodium carbonate. Specifications 1,364,131 and 1,364,133 are referred to.
