136,406. Stalhane, O., and Kring, O. O. March 11, 1919. Soldering.-In an electrically-heated soldering- iron, resistance wires or coils are arranged in tubes removably fitted in the head. The bit is formed in two detachable parts 1<a>, 1<b>, Fig. 2, the part 1<a> being tubular to receive two or more quartz or like tubes 5 for holding the resistance coils 6. The bit is held in the head 2 by screws 4. In a modification the bit is recessed to receive the heating-elements, which are contained in the tubes 5, Figs. 4, 6, and 8, carried by a porcelain or like cap 8 fitted with coupling-devices for the leads. A detachable cap 2<a> holds them in position.
