Abstract

1363611 Valves; anti-skid braking systems ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 4 Jan 1973 [13 Jan 1972] 557/73 Headings F2V and F2F A self-lapping pneumatic valve has a diaphragm 14 which responds to a control pressure at 64 and establishes a corresponding brake actuating pressure in port 37 by connecting the latter selectively to inlet port 36 or exhaust port 56 by actuation of a valve assembly 29 comprising exhaust and inlet valve discs 40, 42 on a.hollow stem 38 carrying plunger 43. The diaphragm in moving to connect port 37 to the exhaust port, e.g. in response to actuation of a solenoid valve (65) responsive to an antiskid signal, comprises a foamed polyurethane member 54 which allows increased valve dumping rate. The valve 65 has closure members 70, 74 which co-operate with inlet and exhaust seats 71, 75 to depressurize chamber 66 upon energization of coil 68. An overtravel spring 76 biases member 74 towards seat 75.
