Abstract

1363416 Biological filters AMES CROSTA MILLS & CO Ltd 3 Sept 1971 [3 Sept 1970] 42120/70 Heading C1C A filter module for use in a biological filter has perforated walls and comprises a plurality of perforated tubular elements 10, one of which is shown in Fig. 1, having a contoured surface (i.e. an exposed surface area much greater than the area calculated from the co-ordinate dimensions of the element). The element 10 may comprise a number of concentric tubes (Fig. 2, not shown) or a coiled member (Fig. 3, not shown) the convolutions of the coil being spaced from each other. The elements may be made of plastics or metal. The module may comprise elements arranged in a regular or random manner. The modules may be arranged in a regular or random manner in a biological filter.
