Abstract

1363092 Heat exchanger tubes YORKSHIRE IMPERIAL METALS Ltd 10 Feb 1972 [21 Jan 1971] 2832/71 Heading F4S [Also in Division B3] A heat exchanger tube has an inner surface consisting of a continuous series of circumferentially extending surfaces alternately convex and concave, the tube having a complementary outer surface which additionally is formed with circumferential annular or helical grooves the pitch of which is not greater than half that of the series of convex and concave surfaces of the tube inner surface, said grooves having a depth not greater than 50% of the tube wall thickness. The tube, for which typical dimensions are given in the Specification, is intended for use in a surface steam condenser the grooves being said to promote rapid removal of condensate from the tube surface. The interior surface of the tube is generally similar to that described in Specification 1,230,196. A method of forming the grooves is described (see Division B3).
