Abstract

1362053 Tripod stands SAMUEL JACKSON & SONS Ltd 4 Aug 1972 [27 Oct 1971] 50033/71 Heading A4H A collapsible support comprises a stem 1 formed of four lengths of angle iron 2 connected by bolts 3 to form four slots, four legs 4 pivotally connected to the stem and pivotable between a first position in which they are housed in the slots Fig.1, (not shown) and a second position substantially at right angles to the stem, as shown, and a locking ring 5 in the form of a square 8 superimposed on a circle 9 and which is slideable along the stem in one angular position (dotted lines), Fig. 4, (not shown) and is rotatable through 45 degrees to another angular position (full lines), Fig. 4, (not shown) in which the square sides enter slots 10 in the irons 2 and the circle 9 abuts the legs 4 to lock them in the second position. The ring 5 holds the legs 4 in their first position by engaging over end portions thereof, springs 15 forcing the irons 2 apart to hold the ring in position, sliding of the ring being prevented by projections 6 and 7 on the legs 4 and irons 2. The legs and stem have attachment points 11, 12 for a sign, and the stem may include a flashing lamp.
