Abstract
1361815 Pneumatic separation of solids WEDAG WESTFALIA DINNENDAHL GROPPEL AG 17 Dec 1971 [17 Dec 1970] 58668/71 Headings B2H and B2P Apparatus for sorting particulate material comprises a separating chamber 1, means for introducing a fluid into the chamber 1, at least one extracting chamber 9 for precipitating material entrained in the fluid exhaust from the chamber 1, and a collecting chamber 4 below the chamber 1 for receiving the remaining material, said collecting chamber being surrounded by cooling means and having another cooling means 7 inside it. The cooling means may consist of water jackets surrounding the chambers 1, 4 and 9 and a water jacket 7 located in the chamber 4. The material to be sorted is fed into the chamber 1 and distributed by a rotating plate 2. The lighter particles are entrained in an upward current of air and pass through tangential ports 8 to cyclones 9 where the particles are removed from the air which is recycled to the chamber 4 by a fan 11. A louvred ring 6 then guides the air into the chamber 1. Heavier material is collected in a funnel 5 at the bottom of the discharge chamber 4.
