Abstract

1361722 Clothes airers W STEINER 11 Feb 1972 [12 Feb 1971] 6523/72 Heading A4U A telescoping clothes airer comprises cantilever arms 1, 2 each consisting of inter-engaging elements of hollow rectangular cross-section which are graduated in size and slide into one another, stubs 17 to 30 on opposed faces of the elements receiving the ends of rigid, garment-supporting, cross bars 31 and stubs 18-23, 25-30 entering slots 33-38 in the next larger element when the arms are collapsed. Elements 3, 10 have end portions 61 for insertion in wall-mounted holders. Inner and outer surfaces 40, 41, 42, 43 of the elements and shoulders 44 to 51 form guiding surfaces for the relative sliding of the elements, and a resilient projection 54' in each sliding element is arrested by a shoulder (55') at the end of a groove (56) in the element in which the projection is slidable, to prevent complete withdrawal of the sliding elements.
